In the early 1990s, I started getting sacrilegious cartoon fanzines from a teenager named Mike Diana. He ended up being the only zine publisher I knew who spent time in jail—in Florida, naturally—for drawing “obscene” drawings for his Boiled Angel zine. A few years ago, when I was getting rid of my zine collection, I put the Boiled Angel issue that got Diana in trouble up for sale on eBay. I mentioned in my listing summary that Florida prosecutors deemed the publication obscene and convicted the young artist. Ebay quickly pulled my listing and banned me for life. I accepted that, and started selling on Craigslist.
